The residential building of the Rice Mill was erected in 1893 east of the plant building according to Mate Glavan’s project. Along with the Randich administration building, this was the most representative building of the factory complex, displaying a distinct historicist character with a prominent façade dynamics achieved through diverse shaping of the window panes on each floor of the façade’s vertical elevation. The building has been preserved at Milutina Barača Street no. 16 and it is still a residential building.

 

Valorization:

The Rice Mill residential building is an interesting example of historicist architecture in Rijeka. The building has not yet been recognized by conservationists as it has recently been discovered as a building of the Rice Mill.
